1. High Mountains
 G-B is the land of five eight thousanders Peaks i.e

  1.  K2 (mount Godwin Austin )                    8611 m  
  2. Nanga Parbat                                          8126 m
  3.  K5 (Gasherbrum-1)                                 8080 m
  4. Broad peak                                              8051 m
  5. K4 (Gasherbrum-2)                                  8035 m

More than 90% of Pakistani seven-thousanders are in Gilgit baltistan)
2 . land of Mountainers
  • The only Pakistani women to climbed Everest -Samina Baig, is from GB.
  • The first Pakistani to climbed Everest -Nazir Sabir , is from GB.
  •  The only Pakistani to climbed six eight thousanders so far- Hassan Sadpara is from GB.

3 . Glaciers
Three of the world's longest glaciers outside the polar regions are found in Gilgit-Baltistan:

  1.  the Biafo Glacier
  2. the Baltoro Glacier
  3.  the Batura Glacier.

The Siachen glacier is shared by both Pakistan and India . Though Pakistan has very little share of it.

 4 . boudaries
The only Pakistani region that shares it's boundaries with three countries i.e

  1.  Afghanistan,
  2.  China 
  3.  India.


5 . History

  • Baltistan was once part of the Greater Tibet. It was once known as little tibet.
  • During the era of Ali Sher Khan Anchan the territory of Baltistan streched from Chitral to leh . Greater than the size of now-a-days Pakistani Punjab
  • The people of Baltistan were once the follower of Bon religion , then they started practicing Bhuddism.
  • The people of Gilgit were Zoroastrian then they became Bhuddist .
  • The only region of subcontinent where Hinduism did never pervaile (though there were some influence).
6 . Languages
  • The Balti language is the only sino tibetan language of Pakistan.
  •  The Brushaski language of Hunza valley is still unclassified language and have no connection with any other language in the world. ( Though some classify them as an Indo-Aryanic language).

7 . Advent of Islam
  • Islam came to baltistan in 15th century through sufi saint Hazrat ammer kabeer Sayyed Ali Hammadani.
  • Islam entered in the Gilgit region in the 16 th century through Turkic Tarkhan rulers
8 . Polo Lovers
  • Polo is the national game of Gilgit Baltistan.
  • The word Polo means ‘Ball’ in Balti.
  • The Shandur polo ground is the highest polo ground of the world. Famous for free style polo.
